Polar Explorers Holiday Club Day 4

Today was fancy dress day - none of the children came in fancy dresses but they did come dressed as explorer's, some from the polar regions others from jungle a variety of ideas was presented to us today.  The judge had a tricky job deciding who the winners would be.  After the judging we moved on with the day's programme and looked at the story of Paul who was Saul and we discovered that it wasn't just his name that changed but his whole life after meeting with Jesus on his way to arrest the believers in Damascus.  We also introduced the bible memory verse which was from Psalm 119:105 'your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path' we explained what that means to the children.  Tomorrow is the last day when the children will be bringing back their polar base's on their paper plates, we award prizes to the winning team and the winning team table.  Then picnic and water fight finish the day off.

Polar Explorers Holiday Club Day 3

We might be giving the impression that we are at the South Pole during the Holiday Club at Urswick but there is nothing cold about it.  The children have warmed to the theme very well this year.  Today was our wacky hat day when they had been encouraged to come with a hat from either the south or north pole.  There was a number of very good ideas from the children.  The story today was Phillip and his meeting with the Ethiopian Official.  Tomorrow we look at Paul's story.  Another great day.

Polar Explorers Holiday Club Day 2

Another great day today.  It was good to see all the children come back for more fun and games today.  Our theme was based on Stephen today, he was just an ordinary man who was given an ordinary job to do serving food to people and in that job God used him.  This is what the children heard today.  We watched a video telling us the story and the intro drama had references to it too as well as the memory verse and then the children explored the issue a bit more in their reflection time towards the end of the morning.  The children even managed to get outside for a time playing games too.  Roll on tomorrow.

Polar Explorers Holiday Club Day 1

We had a good start today at the Polar Explorers Holiday Club in Urswick.  We looked at the story of Peter and talked with the children about some of the mistakes he had made when he was with Jesus like telling people he didn't know Jesus at all.  The key phrase for today was Never Too Many Mistakes - we all make mistakes but with the love of God through what Jesus did for us we can be forgiven.  In the reflection time the children came up with some thoughts on this and told us all about it at the end of the morning.  Everyone went home having had a great time.
