St. Marys School, Ulverston

This morning we paid our second visit to St. Marys in Ulverston. We introduced them to two new songs 'So many ways to praise the Lord' and 'Shine'. The theme of the assembly was the tongue and how we can sometimes say things that make a mess. To illustrate this a tube of tomato puree was used (recycle contents for tea later) a child was asked to empty it out onto a plate, which to the children was very funny. Even funnier was when I asked them to put it back into the tube! Because what we say out of our mouths can't be taken back - The verse from James 3:5 was read and explained to the children - '...the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great is set on fire by a small spark.'
