Burlington School

On Wednesday Sarah and I made our final visit of 2017 to Burlington School. We did our Christmas assembly for the children.  Sarah started by asking the children what time of year it was - we had a number of different answers ranging from December to Advent to Christmas.  Sarah then asked the children what Christmas is all about and again we had a variety of different answers - toys, food, Father Christmas, chocolate, putting the tree up, spending time with family and Jesus of course.  We then showed the children the Bible Society video for this year which tells the Christmas story in the style of 'Going on a Bear Hunt'.  After the video Sarah continued to talk with the children saying that without Jesus there would be no Christmas which came as a bit of a shock to some children.  We then sang our Christmas song Rejoice with us.  Afterwards I reminded the children of what Sarah had said and encouraged them to stop and pause amid the rushing around before Christmas and think on the real reason for the season.  I then closed with a prayer.
