Church Walk

This morning Sarah and I did our first assembly of the new school year.  We went to Church Walk School.  It was so good to see all the children again after the summer break and so good also to be back doing assemblies.  We wanted to inspire the children at the start of the year so after singing Great Big God Sarah told a story with pictures about the parts of the body.  The body parts like the hands and feet, eyes, nose and mouth got a bit fed up with getting food for the stomach - they though him lazy.  So they each decided to stop doing what they did but then the whole body became ill and couldn't function that is until the stomach explained that they all needed each other and that they all needed to work together.  I then explained that it is a bit like that in schools, we all need each other and we all need to work together and when we do that we can show God's love.  I read the verse from John that says Love one another as I have loved you Ch15 v12 and explained that the word love here is not about kisses and things but showing love by - opening a door say, or helping to clear away, or helping a younger child in school.  Then when we do that we Shine from the inside out - cue for a song.  After the song Sarah closed the assembly with a prayer.
