Penny Bridge School

We went this afternoon down to Penny Bridge School, I don't think I have ever been there when it wasn't raining! But the rain didn't dampen our assembly, the children had not been out all day with the rain so were glad to sing a lively song at the start. The assembly theme was on God's love. Sarah started to talk about the different ways in which we talk to one another and communicate, then her phone text went off right on cue. The children thought it was a bit funny as Sarah read out the rather strange message. Thankfully some of the year 6 children could speak text and told her what it said. Sarah then went on to ask the children about other ways we communicate. I demonstrated Semaphore using a couple of flags and Sarah answered in Morse code. We reminded the children that last week it was Valentines day and that is when we send cards to say how much we love them. We then asked how does God communicate his love to us. The children made a number of responses then I showed a pattern of shapes and asked if the children knew what it was as the shapes slowly moved into place. Just before the cross shape was formed a few put up their hands. I explained that God showed his love for us by allowing Jesus to die on the cross. We finished with Inright Outright.
